1. Overview

This service is operated by WonderWriterAI LTD (referred to as "we," "us," or "our"). We provide a digital platform for creating personalised storybooks. We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and parents in compliance with the UK/EU GDPR and the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

2. Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum information necessary to generate your story:

  • Parental Information: Email address and payment details (processed securely via Stripe).
  • Story Personalisation: Child's first name, age, and a character description provided by the parent.
  • Optional Photo Uploading: The photo upload feature is entirely optional. If you choose to use it, the image is securely transmitted to our AI analysis partner (Google Gemini) via an encrypted API for the sole purpose of extracting character traits (such as hair, eye color and clothing). The image is processed in real-time and is permanently deleted from all systems immediately after the traits are extracted. We do not store original photos, and they are never used for AI training or shared with third parties for any other purpose.
  • High-Security Photo Analysis (No Storage): No Biometric Identification: Our AI analysis does not use facial recognition or create a "biometric template" to identify your child. It only extracts "descriptive tokens" (e.g., "short curly hair," "green eyes") to guide the illustration style. Immediate Deletion: Photos are transmitted via an encrypted connection to our AI partner (Google Gemini Enterprise API). Once the descriptive traits are extracted, the photo is permanently deleted from all systems within seconds. No AI Training: Your photos are never used to "train" our AI or Google's AI. They are used once, then destroyed.

3. Partnership with Google Gemini

We use Google Gemini's Enterprise-grade API for character analysis. Under our agreement, Google acts as a "Data Processor." They are legally prohibited from using the photos we send them for their own purposes, and they do not store the images beyond the immediate processing time.

4. Lawful Basis for Processing

Under GDPR, we process data based on Contractual Necessity (to create the story you purchased) and Consent. For children under 13, we require verifiable parental consent, which is obtained during the checkout process. For UK/EU Users: We process data based on Contractual Necessity (to deliver the book you bought) and Consent. For US Users (COPPA): By uploading a photo or providing a child's name, you provide "Verifiable Parental Consent." You warrant that you are the legal guardian of the child. We do not knowingly collect data from any child directly; all data must be entered by a parent or guardian.

5. Data Retention

We retain the generated story, character's description and the child's name only as long as you maintain an active account or as required for tax records. We keep your generated story and the child's name so you can access your digital book in your account.

Photos: Deleted immediately after the analysis.

Account Data: You can request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.
